Having been to a couple children’s museums in big cities I wasn’t expecting much from The Sandbox. On Hilton Head Island you have The Sandbox, an interactive children’s museum that far exceeds expectations that you have of a resort children’s museum. It could be too hot, too cold, bad weather or maybe the kids just need a day inside, but not inside the beach place that you’re renting. The Sandbox Children’s Museum would like to thank all applicants, however, only those who qualify for an interview will be contacted.When your family goes on vacation there are guaranteed to be a day or two out of the week that need something. Materials and equipment used : Computers, tablets, copier and point of sale systems. Must be able to work weekdays, weekends and evenings and holidays.Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.Can do attitude and a willingness to work with infectious enthusiasm!.Knowledge of computers and phones as needed for office work, including knowledge of Microsoft Office.Will accept a combination of education and experience if it is closely related to the job skills needed for the position. Customer service, restaurant, tourism, work with children (i.e, daycare, camp, vacation Bible school, etc, etc).Must have a commitment to diversity, work as a team player, and good judgment in daily activities with limited supervision. Must enjoy working with children and families, have pleasant personality, good interpersonal skills, and professional appearance. High school diploma required (or GED), with prior experience in guest services, education, or museum operations or an equivalent combination of relevant prior work experience and education. Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years or older. Participating in special activities and other projects as needed and related to duties as assigned.Reporting conditions of the exhibits to the appropriate staff and performing first-line response to ensure the exhibits are safe for visitors.Opening and closing of exhibit areas, preparing materials and cleaning areas for daily use.Ensuring exhibit spaces are properly cleaned, organized and materials stored in appropriate areas.Efficiently operating admission and check in procedures and gift shop sales.Working with staff to offer excellent educational programming and experiences for the guests.Providing the highest standards of customer service by representing The Sandbox in a professional manner when responding to questions and concerns of the guests and volunteers. Primary Responsibilities and Duties include, but are not limited to: Requires standing and moving throughout the museum for extended periods of time and are occasionally required to assist in lifting and carrying heavy materials. Evening, holiday and weekend work will be required, for special programs and events. Work Schedule and Conditions: This position could be opening 10:00am or closing 6:30pm. Safeguards exhibits, helps maintain the cleanliness of museum facility, assist with front desk and admission procedures, and refill art and exhibit supplies as needed. Summary: Responsible for the quality of the guest experience in the museum.
